As we approach the 20s–2020s that is–it’s fun to look back a century ago to see how we have progressed/digressed or how similar/disimilar our times are. I am sure the 2020s will be as history making as the 1920s. Just so we avoid repeating the whole Prohibition nonsense or having the economy tank again.
Sometimes I get these fun history articles that pop up on my Facebook feed from pages I follow. Some of my favorites have come from Mental Floss. This interesting list popped up on my feed today. 2019 marked the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment which eventually lead to the amendment’s ratification and adoption in August 1920. This historic amendment gave women their hard-fought, hard-earned right to vote–it only took 132 years. Just because they secured a say at the ballot box didn’t translate to equality in other aspects. Mental Floss contributor Nicole Garner shares a few of the historical inequalities from a century ago.
Yikes!!
