Wow, just an incredible read! I couldn’t put this one down because the horror just pulls you in for more. The whole time I was reading, I kept thinking about what my family and I would be doing if this actual scenario were playing out.
Nuclear war has no winners. Those “walking the razor’s edge,” or the policy of deterrence, believe and push the agenda that the best way to prevent a nuclear exchange is to stockpile as many of these apocalyptic weapons as possible. At its height, the U.S. stockpile reached over 31,000 warheads alone. Add all of the other nuclear-armed nations, and the number was a staggering 71,000 weapons. Deterrence works until it doesn’t, and there is no plan B in the event of a miscalculation or madman wanting the world to burn—both are at play in this scenario. One thermonuclear weapon fired begets thousands more, and there are no winners.
